Signature Editions - Dust Bowl

Dust Bowl was an ecological disaster created by humans through thoughtless exploitation of the earth and a belief that nature would endure everything. This was compounded by drought and poverty following the Great Depression.

For eight years, dust storms blanketed homes, fields and cities. Mothers sewed clothes from flour sacks, people covered their faces with wet bandanas and millions set out from Oklahoma and Texas to find not salvation but exploitation and humiliation. Labor movements, solidarity and anger were born in this chaos.

People learned lessons from that tragedy - cultivation methods were changed and the government supported farmers and starving workers. But it's hard not to ask: was it enough?
